Why we started this

If you've ever read a merchant processing statement and felt that someone, somewhere, was getting away with something — you weren't wrong. The merchant services industry has built an entire business model around obscurity: tiered pricing that hides markup, contracts that auto-renew, equipment leases that cost ten times the device, junk fees stacked like cordwood.

We've been on the other side of that business — and we got tired of watching small business owners pay for opacity. NMS exists to do the opposite: read your statement honestly, tell you exactly what you're paying, and only recommend a change if the math actually works out for you.

If we can't save you money, we say so. About a third of the audits we run end with the merchant staying with their current processor — but at much better rates, because the audit gave them leverage to renegotiate. We're fine with that outcome.

David runs the statement-reading side of the business. He spends his days line-by-lining merchant statements — the kind of work that's tedious for most people and just satisfying for him. Background in operating his own small businesses, which taught him exactly which fees feel arbitrary to a business owner because they are.

Ohad Mizrahie

Principal · Analyst

Ohad's the payments specialist. He spent years inside the merchant services industry watching how pricing actually gets built — and decided he'd rather build it the honest way. He handles the side of the business that gets clients better rates after the audit, and walks away from the deal if the math doesn't work.
